Since 1986 active in public health inculding 12 years as a paediatric nurse in the Dpt. of Paediatric Oncology/Haematology, Charité Berlin and one year as a study nurse. Since 2003 member of the study centre of the trial ALL-REZ BFM in Berlin. Since 2005 also member of the project "OncoWorkstation" with the following foci: supply and maintenance of the study-protocols for paediatrics, performing training courses in hospitals and supervision of users in paediatrics. Since 2009 editor of the official website of the Dept. of Paediatric Oncology/Haematology, Charité, Berlin. Since 2010 editor for www.kinderkrebsindo.de.

Focus: Treatment of children and adolescents with malignant diseases; design, realisation and analysis of multicentric clinical trials and phase I/II-trials for children with leukaemia and non-Hodgkin-lymphomas. 1981 Science-Award of the Kind-Philipp-Foundation, 1982 Professorship. 1983-2010 head of the trial ALL-REZ BFM for children with relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia - Berlin, Frankfurt, Münster. Since 1985 director of the Dpt. of Paediatric Oncology/Haematology of the Children's Hospital, Free University Berlin, then director of the Dpt. of Paediatric Oncology/Haematology of the Children's Hospital, Charité-University Medicine Berlin, Campus Virchow-Klinikum. Since 1988 Professor for Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Charité-University Medicine Berlin. 1994-2001 Chair of the Society for Paediatric Oncology and Haematology (GPOH). 1997-2002 President of the International Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOP). 1997 Honorary Doctor Laureateship. 1998 Fritz-Acker Science Award. 2007 Wilhelm-Warner-Award for Cancer Research. 2008 German Cross of Merit. 2009 German Cancer Award. January - April 2012: clinical internship in the Saint-Elizabeth Hospital in Mettingen, Germany. Various internships in clinical medicine to follow until entering medschool at the University of Rochester, New York, USA, in fall 2012. Working as volunteer translator for www.kinderkrebsinfo.de from October 2011 until end of 2014.
